Weighing in at just 1380g, the Mavic Crossmax SL Ultimate 30 wheel is the dream of all cross-country racers who have only one thing in mind: performance. Developed in partnership with professional runners looking for a competitive advantage in the World Cup or the Olympic Games, it uses a 29 "(360 g) full carbon rim, which allows for quick acceleration and climbs, without compromising on rigidity and durability.
The special Adaptive Lay Up technique allows Mavic to produce carbon rims using less material between the spokes. Spoke holes are reinforced with strategically positioned carbon layers, reducing weight without compromising stiffness and strength. A lighter rim means faster acceleration, more efficient climbs and better responsiveness. The outer carbon layer benefits from Mavic's UD² design, which gives it a very specific visual identity and reinforces its durability.
Extensive field trials, carried out with the brand's professional athletes, have identified the most suitable internal width for fast and precise steering and optimal grip on fast racing tracks: 25 mm. For more technical terrains, some prefer a width of 30mm, which offers better handling. Mavic therefore makes both options available. The choice is yours and, if you wish, combine the two! For example, ride a Crossmax Ultimate 25 at the rear to improve your acceleration and efficiency, and a Crossmax Ultmate 30 at the front to gain confidence and control on tough single-track.
The carbon rim is fitted with 24 straight narrowed spokes (same spoke length everywhere), crossed in pairs for optimal power transfer and better vertical flexibility. The new, lighter Infinity hub platform optimizes lateral stiffness, and the spokes maximize power transfer. The Instant Drive 360 freehub body guarantees, with its double ratchet system, rapid engagement for more efficient acceleration out of bends.
